According to my Great-Great-Grandfather, Bnei Yisocher, the month before ELUL is called AV, because AV is the acronym for ELUL BA, which means, ready or not, ELUL is coming! Therefore, in this month of AV we already must begin to focus on the Teshuvah Process. So here goes. The Zohar explains that the word TESHUVA is a compound of the words, TASHUV HEI, "returning the HEI". The HEI that the...

How to Become Holy!  .: Viewed: 2466 times :.
“Speak to the Children of Israel and say to them: You shall be holy for I, Hashem your G-d, am holy” (Vayikra 19:2). Rashi comments on this verse that being holy means to separate your self from sexual immorality. But that is just the starting point of attaining a state of being holy. In the non-Jewish world, to sanctify one's self, or to be holy, means to cut yourself off from...

King David tells us in Tehillim 100, “to serve G-d with joy”. The Mishna in Avot 1 tells us that we should “greet and welcome everyone with a joyful countenance”. Avot D’Rabbi Natan 13 states that a happy and pleasant facial expression is considered equal to giving a person the most treasured gift in the world.  How to Know Your Mission in Life  .: Viewed: 2579 times :.
Why are we here? What is the purpose and meaning of our existence? There is a perplexing verse in Genesis 2:18, God said, “It is not good for man to be alone. I will make for him a helpmate who is against him.”   At first sight this verse seems to be a paradox: a helpmate assists, she does not oppose. The Talmud (Bavli Yevamot 63a) phrases the question as follows. The Hebrew...

How To Manage Our Anger  .: Viewed: 1802 times :.
Of all the abilities that human beings possess, perhaps none is as mysterious as our talent for compartmentalization. Each of us is multiple people, and different ones emerge in different circumstances and relationships. If we can never fully know somebody, it's not simply because his exterior does not match his interior. It's because we have so many chambers inside, and some are more hidden...

Recently, the Shas Minister of Religion stated that Reform Jews are not part of the Jewish People, because they are heretics who do not believe in the Divinity of the Torah. Of course he was wrong, because the Talmud in Sanhedrin states, "A Jew, no matter how sinful he is, always remains a Jew." The Chazon Ish on Shulchan Aruch Yoreh Deah 13 states that "All heretics and sinners in Israel...

 Human Cloning & Halacha  .: Viewed: 2731 times :.
Human cloning is making headlines around the world, as something of a new phenomenon. But actually there was a human clone 5762 years ago. As we read in Genesis 2:21-22, “G-d cast a deep sleep on man and while he slept, G-d took one of his ribs and closed up the wound with flesh. And G-d cloned the rib that he had taken from man into a woman.”  While the cloning of Adam to create...
