The Pope and King David's Tomb

Why did the Pope come to King David's Tomb on Mount Zion? MK Nissim Zeev of Shas stated that Chief Sephardic Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef told him that the Prime Minister's Bureau asked him for Halachic permission for Israel to hand over the Tomb of King David to the Vatican. The Chief Rabbi told the Prime Minister's Bureau that it is of course strictly prohibited to transfer King David's Tomb to the Vatican which would turn it into a place of idol worship, G-d forbid. This is in accordance with the Rambam's  ruling that Christianity is a form of idol worship.

Why do the Pope and the Vatican have such an interest in King David's Tomb? Because the Vatican believes that the Last Supper Room is situated directly above King David's Tomb. Therefore, the Vatican hopes that by the Pope celebrating mass in that place and turning the Last Supper Room into a church, they can proclaim that Christianity is the true successor of Judaism and of King David. This is all part of the Vatican's so called replacement theology, which was the basis and rationale of Christianity.

Although the Pope came to pray at King David's Tomb to glorify Christianity, the Diaspora Yeshiva, which is adjacent to King David's Tomb, convinced many IDF soldiers and Israel Police who were guarding the Pope to put on Tefillin and pray with us. At that time, many IDF soldiers and Israel Police became emotional and told us that it was the very first time in their lives that they had donned Tefillin.  G-d works in mysterious ways. The IDF and Israel Police thought that they had come to guard and protect the Pope during his visit on Mount Zion. However, G-d's concealed plan was to bring these holy IDF soldiers to King David's Tomb, next to the Diaspora Yeshiva, to give us and them the opportunity to perform the great Mitzvah of Tefillin.

The Pope's visit took place a week after we read the Haftorah of Yirmiyahu 16:19-20, "G-d is my strength and my stronghold and my refuge in time of trouble. To You, G-d, all the nations will come from the ends of the earth, and they will all proclaim, "Only lies and falsehoods have our ancestors passed on to us, futility with no purpose. How could we be so foolish as to make a human being into a god, when they are not gods!" Is it a coincidence that this Haftorah was read on the very week before the Pope came to Mount Zion?
